It was damaged in the Nepal earthquakes of 2015 and is presently being restored. When Tibetan refugees entered Nepal in the 1950s, many settled in the area and it continues to be the hub of religious and social life for Tibetans as well as other Tibetan Buddhist followers such as Sherpas." David Morton is a high altitude guide, adventurer and photographer and the co-founder of The Juniper Fund.
