I vividly recall accompanying my parents to Everest Basecamp (the trek began from the outskirts of Kathmandu) and celebrating my 7th birthday (a few decades ago)! It took us a month to get there. The Everest region unequivocally has the most beautiful mountain scenery in the world." Norbu Tenzing Norgay is the Vice President of the American Himalayan Foundation, and the son of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa who, with Sir Edmund Hillary, was the first to climb Mt. Everest in 1953.
