The triangle shadow cast by Adam’s Peak at 530am. The last day we spend with Mahendra, we climb the highest mountain in Sri Lanka, Sri Pada, at night. After 350 flights of stairs we reach the peak at 11pm and fall asleep on the concrete floor of the monastery with hundreds of other pilgrims. At 430 everyone gets up to watch the sunrise.
The day was another reminder material needs are few, but the need to trust and be with fellow humans is everything. Inconsequential sacrifices - dinner, breakfast, showers, clean toilets, mattresses, shoes, privacy. Irreplacable memories – laughing with the crew as we lay down on the bug covered floor on plastic sheets, standing in awe with 200 strangers as the sun rose turning a long flat cloud flaming orange, hiking next to Mahendra @damanibaker @jungwon217 @eddiemarritz @albertotmojica @ashpan64
