Rafael Dudamel has been appointed as the new coach of the Venezuelan national team, replacing Noel Sanvicente. The former international goalkeeper played 56 times for the ‘Vinotinto’ and scored a direct free kick in the 1998 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Argentina. Venezuela are at the bottom of the South American table in Russia 2018 qualifying with one point from six matches. He brought the country its first ever CONMEBOL title at the South American championships in 2013, so Venezuela fans will be hoping he can bring more success at the senior level.
