Tired of cold weather, after Cuyahoga Valley National Park we headed as far south as we could in search of warmer climates and vivid color. We found both (and an amazing national park) on the border of Mexico in southwest Texas in Big Bend National Park. This is one of the great sunrise hikes we did there: grapevine hills trail to the precariously perched balanced rock. The show stopper is the sight pictured here, a photogenic rock that has been balanced in this position for a millennia. However, the whole trail is full of huge rounded boulders that are also very photogenic and are so tempting to climb upon. Just watch out for snakes!
