A week before I had a chance to film in here (pic above), we went to one of the most sacred temples in Bali, located in a forest. There we had a ceremony, interview and intense meditation with a Holy Man (and other experiences you'll discover in the doc). That day was one of the most significant for us because we learned so much about love and humanity there. I've always looked at the beliefs and the fascinating stories of Hinduism in Bali with curiosity, but always in a "light" and amused way. Until that day. And that day was just the beginning.
Our "Holy Man" told us we'd receive some answers from "nature" soon.... ( in 5,7 or 35 days...). We just had to wait and listen.
Cut to 7 days later, in this temple ( pic). Between 2 interviews, I asked my fixer / spiritual guide / friend if I could do a little meditation in the temple and ask my questions again ( 'cause why not, haha) He said : "Of course! You know what to do, talk to nature, it always answers." So I did. I sat, I "prayed", I asked ( with a big smile, a bit amused to be sitting on the floor of a temple in Indonesia talking to the trees around me) and before I opened my eyes I said aloud : "Please send me a sign." And then I heard a sound... Not the peaceful and pleasant sound I was waiting for... No. A quite strong buzz started and before I could really understand what was happening I opened my eyes and saw a massive cloud of killer hornets flying around me (and I am allergic). I realized there were maybe a thousand or so and so I stood up slowly and carefully backed out of the temple.
I turned to my crew as I walked out of the temple and said : "Guys I have to go... I'm gonna die". The hornets followed me, flying around my face and then after 30 seconds... they just disappeared! My DP was like : "This is a horror movie, except it's real!" I didn't get stung. Not a single hornet hurt me.
My fixer said : "What did you ask? This is a very very significant and powerful symbol." I said : "Please, nature, give me a sign..." Well... I received it.
Turns out the Hornets or Bees are one of the most beautiful symbols in many many civilizations.
