Fernando Monroy spends up to five hours hand-drawing, scanning and then digitally colorizing his portraits, which are based on celebrities he finds in entertainment and fashion magazines. “Pop culture — we see it every day and we live on it,” says the 20-year-old Mexico City-based art student. “The photos that we see in magazines or the covers of a CD — I want the people to really see that they can be considered art.” You can check out more of his work — from Bowie to Bieber —over on @fmonroyr. #fangrams
