On February 17th, #Oracle Women’s Leadership HQ group participated in a volunteer mission at Second Harvest Food Bank. The goal of this organization is to end hunger in local communities by providing food for a quarter million hungry people every month. The organization also promotes federal nutrition programs and educates families on how to make healthier food choices.
Each group of volunteers were assigned to a station in the warehouse, and placed in assembly-line fashion. The #OWL HQ team was given a variety of food items, majority in canned goods to sort based on categories. When asked about her experience, Sarah Welco, Regional Manager Business Development said, “I wouldn’t have missed it. Second Harvest Food Bank was a great opportunity to team build while giving back to the community.” The volunteer experience facilitated a great networking environment, and encouraged interaction amongst many unfamiliar faces. Second Harvest Food Bank empowers all aspects of the community by supporting local families in need. Thank you @2ndharvest for your contribution to our communities.
