On February 19th, #Oracle Professional Asian Leadership (#OPAL) in partnership with Ready. Set. Go! Oracle College Hire Program hosted its first Lunar New Year Luncheon and Asian Cultural Celebration. It was by far the most successful, fun filled and culturally rich events with over 200 attendees!

The Lunar New Year event allowed attendees to explore Asian cultural traditions celebrated in China, Korea, Singapore and Vietnam. Upon registration, attendees received a sticker based on their Zodiac Sign – rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, or pig. This allowed people to find others who shared their similar zodiac sign and network with them. Attendees also received a lucky red envelope that contained a delicious chocolate coin, and a “Passport”. The passports encouraged attendees to participate in activities at each of the four booths to receive passport stickers. Once all four passport stickers were collected, the attendee was given a prize.

Several of the women in Vietnamese booth wore beautiful traditional Vietnamese clothing and attendees played a fun typical Vietnamese game. At the China booth, attendees took a video expressing “Happy Chinese New Year, I Love OPAL" in Chinese, English, or another language. At the Singapore booth, people could try a piece of the Durian fruit, and at the Korea booth, they could try some popular Korean desserts.

There was a photo booth with many Lunar New Year props to take fun pictures! After all the games and activities, Chinese food was served and attendees had a fun time eating and networking with other OPAL or OCH members and employees. It was a festive event which allowed many people to experience new foods and learn about different Asian cultures.
