I suggested and many of you have done beautiful birthday cards for Lewis on #elbi app He received over 500 birthday cards! From his parents Samantha and James words this could be the best present he could possibly receive. Lewis has a rare, developing Batten disease, that causes him suffering from pain, being very vulnerable to any infection or a virus and constantly fighting for life. Lewis can not move, can't eat, can't speak, he communicates by the computer (provided by SpecialEffect charity that we also have on Elbi) that traces the movement of his eyeballs and translates it to simple answers and commands. The unspoken truth is that Lewis is slowly dying and his parents only goal is to make life of Lewis as long and as bright as they can do. Many years ago his parents, Samantha and James, agreed that they will do everything and live only for Lewis and live their lifes after he's gone. And their love saves. Doctors said Lewis life expectancy is 12 years max, but here he is - just celebrated his 12th birthday. Viktor and I Facetimed Lewis. When his mom Samantha brought in the room the birthday cards from Elbi and put them on a stand, Lewis smiled, I saw this myself. Then mom was reading to Lewis what Elbi users wished him for birthday and he became very excited, he started breathing faster, blinking faster and even a tear drop came from his eye. What they wished, from which places these wishes came from and even the names everything was important and interesting and mom read it and discussed this with Lewis.
