「響」に秘められた熱き想い

1989年、サントリー創業90周年を記念して「響」が誕生しました。目指したのは、最高峰のブレンデッドウイスキー。
自身もビオラを嗜んでいた当時のチーフブレンダー・稲富孝一は、ブレンディングの際、ある交響曲をイメージしていたといいます。それは、ブラームスの「交響曲第1番第4楽章」。熟練のブレンド技によって生み出された「響」は、荘厳な交響曲のように奥行きのある旋律を奏でます。

The Inspiration for Hibiki
Created in 1989 to commemorate Suntory's 90th anniversary, Hibiki represents the pinnacle of the art of whisky making.
Suntory's chief blender at the time, Koichi Inatomi, was also a keen viola player and he drew inspiration from the fourth movement of Brahms' Symphony No. 1. This majestic piece of music is notable for its depth of harmony and, in the same way, Hibiki is crafted out of the harmony of carefully selected malt and grain whiskies through the art of blending.
