Yours truly @_goinghome continuing my day of taking over the folk magazine feed and sharing a little piece of myself with all of you. This photo is dear to me because I took it during my first ever trip to the famous Pacific Northwest. I didn't travel much growing up, I wasn't born with a trust fund and passport in my hand, I worked hard for these opportunities to explore. And this was a moment that changed my view of the country forever. It's easy to get caught up in night life of populated cities, and extremely easy to stay inside the walls of places like Portland and become addicted to the incredible community (and can we talk about the food...?!) but I can never stay put for too long. I can't consider a state crossed off my list if I don't get a chance to truly experience it, to connect with nature and explore the magic that has adorned the landscape since the landscape existed. I find myself piled into rental cars with a group of friends and taking to the open road, exploring paths and places that spark our interest and speak to our curious hearts. We happened upon this spot accidentally, and I'm sure many of you recognize it and consider it a normal sight on your weekend hike. But goodness, this exact moment took my breath away and that's why I can't put my camera down. That's where my affinity for photography stems from. Our life is filled with these moments that take our breath away, and after the experience has soaked in and changed me at my core.. I'll grab my camera and take a token of gratitude from the experience that just altered my life. Standing on a fallen and worn log amongst friends, watching the strength of the water crash amongst the rocks and fall gracefully through the crevasses, I felt part of the landscape. I knew a little piece of the Northwest now lives inside me and I take pieces of my adventures wherever I go, because they live inside us all. With or without your camera to prove it. Grateful time and time again for places like this that Mother Nature granted us. This experience was completely free, and the best ones usually are. dead man's cove, wa | ? @_goinghome
