Photo by @catherinekarnow In the rich wine growing region of Tuscany is Badia di Passignano or the Abbey of Passignano, an historic abbey dating, amazingly, to the year 395. Even today it is still inhabited by monks of the Vallombrosian Order, who remain the guardians of their cultural and historical treasures. Next door to the monastery is a hidden gem of a restaurant: the Osteria di Passignano, owned by the famed Antinori family. I cant think of a better way to spend the afternoon, drinking a great Chianti wine, eating their signature eggplant and zucchini ravioli, and strolling around the monastery afterwards. And photographing the view of course. I came back three times to get the right light, then waited almost two hours for a break in the stormy sky for the sun rays to shine through and illuminate the village.
