This beautiful golden eagle is a permanent resident of the @ojairaptorcenter, a federally licensed rehabilitation center for birds of prey and other wildlife. Located in Ojai, California, the center is home to a wide array of gorgeous animals. Shytan “was nearly severed in two when he collided with a power line bordering Chumash Indian lands. The wing fell in Chumash territory and was collected for use in their native rituals. The rest of Shytan fell on the other side.” From there he found his new home. When birds lose a wing they will forever have phantom limb syndrome and attempt to fly, which can cause further injury. Without the ability to hunt, Shytan is now able to live a long and healthy life thanks to the OJC.
