"If I had to pick my favorite #Hubble image, it would be the Ultra Deep Field. The initial Hubble Ultra Deep Field image was released when I was in grad school and I used this data in my dissertation research. In this tiny image of sky—much smaller than the size of the full moon on the sky—Hubble sees ten thousand galaxies. Hubble has essentially shown us that the universe is HUGE—filled with hundreds of billions of galaxies! But we are missing a crucial piece of the puzzle—the first galaxies to be born after the Big Bang. We need #JWST to push further back in time and see the first epoch of galaxy formation."
