This week, @nytimestravel’s Frugal Traveler Lucas Peterson was on a mission to prove that all of the worthwhile things about #Vegas could be had without touching the 4.2-mile stretch of #LasVegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Russell Road. “I was hoping that getting away from the Strip would yield experiences that one wouldn’t normally associate with Vegas, and I could see a side of the city most tourists miss,” Lucas writes in @nytimestravel. Lucas’s quest for good deals took him to the Pinball Hall of Fame, a firing range called Gun Garage and other sights off the Strip. @laurejoliet photographed this neon sign in #OldLasVegas while on #nytassignment.
