Paul Reubens has been plotting @peeweeherman’s big comeback for years. He wrote several scripts, made cameo appearances on TV and amassed nearly 2 million Twitter fol­lowers. He even launched a Los Angeles stage production of the ‘‘Pee-wee Herman Show,’’ which turned into a 10-week Broadway incarnation later that year. ‘‘Part of the reason why I wanted to come back is that I didn’t have a real good ending to my career,’’ said Paul, 63, alluding to his 1991 arrest on charges of indecent exposure. But after disappearing for nearly 3 decades, he’s attempting to make these events a mere footnote in the @peeweeherman story.
