"Today I was told 1 in a 100 of these life jackets are real. The other 99 are full of material that actually absorbs water and becomes a weight that sinks the person wearing the jacket. It is a horrific nightmare. Trusting refugees trying to do what is best for their families unknowingly purchase fake life jackets from vendors in Turkey. So far in 2016, nearly 400 people have drowned to death attempting to make the short six mile journey from the shores of Turkey to the Greek islands. The death toll continues to rise weekly.

I am standing on top of the "life jacket graveyard" on a hillside outside Molyvos, a city in northern Lesvos, Greece trying to take in the never ending obstacles that face these families on their long journey to escape war. The "life jacket graveyard" is full with nearly a million jackets and is approx 12 ft high x 150 ft wide x 150 long."
