Today is the beginning of Losar, Tibetan New Year, the most important event of the year. The celebration will continue for 15 days with much prayer, dance and ceremony. In the Labrang monastery in #Xiahe, #Gansu, the highlight of the festivities is the #Monlam or great prayer festival, where the world's largest #Thangka (painting of Buddha) is unfurled on a hillside overlooking the monastery.
