North Korea is back in the news and once again the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is back on highest alert. This buffer zone between North and South Korea, runs roughly along the 38th parallel, created by the United Nations after the war in 1953. It is the most heavily militarized border in the world with thousands of troops and weapons amassed on both sides of the 2.5 mile wide, 160 mile long strip. Here's a view few get to see other than the soldiers on duty - the electrified fence, lit up to deter North Korean incursions. With South Korea having recently resumed blasting propaganda and Kpop out of huge amplified speakers directed towards north, no one is getting much sleep.
