#OnThisDay in 1935, Clifford William Jones was born. In 1958, he signed for @トッテナム・ホットスパーFC for £35,000, arriving by public transport and walking into the stadium side-by-side with fans.
At his best, Jones was considered one of the best left wingers in the world, featuring in the 1960-61 double winning team. In a throwback to another time in history, the Welshman said: "Bill Nicholson always said the most important people in the stadium, were the fans. People worked 40 hours a week and then came to support us. Their money would pay our wages. The club is a huge part of the community, and we were made aware of our responsibilities to them."
