#Lions are known to sleep as much as 21 hours in a day, which makes it a little daunting that they can be so lean and muscular. The reality is that the amount of effort it takes a lion to hunt and kill prey is a tremendous effort. It's also an intelligent strategy to keep from over heating and dehydrating in the intense heat of Africa. The #Serengeti is quite flat, decorated with life-giving grass that stretches mile after endless mile. This grass feeds millions and millions of animals and is the true staple of the land. Seen here, a heard of elephants carelessly or obliviously grazing below a small pride of lions dozing a top one of the relatively few high vantage points on the plains. @wwtrek @mikelibecki @lilliana_libecki
