Pigmentation on the nose amongst other features on a lion can be used to tell its age. The more black, the older the lion. Ethical hunters would use these characteristics to determine whether or not that lion could potentially be taken without a knock on effect to the pride. ie he was past his prime. This doesn't happen anymore as male lions have been depleted due to over hunting and unethical practices. Supply clearly not meeting demand. This is a good enough reason as to why trophy hunting of lions should be banned amongst the other overwhelming evidence that hunting lions in true wilderness areas does nothing to conserve the species but is rather detrimental. #SaveHabitat #SaveLions
