A step in the right direction for the #AfricanLion. @usfws announced that the Central and West African lions were to be listed as Endangered and that the East and Southern African lions, Threatened. They also stated, "The agency said it planned to collect information from conservation groups and scientists about the hunting and conservation practices of countries and would not rely solely on what governments said about their policies." This is important if it's rigorously monitored and scrutinized as it will very soon become clear that hunting lions in parts such as East Africa is unsustainable and is directly contributing to their decline. We applaud the positive steps being implemented by various countries to offer lions the protection they deserve.
