Mohamed Saidou Diallo is a UNICEF communications assistant in Conakry, #Guinea . Mr. Diallo fell ill with #Ebola in November 2014. He started feeling sick and after two days he decided to go to the hospital. His temperature was high and they requested that he go to the Ebola Treatment Centre (ETC). While at the ETC, he started feeling better. Most of the suspect patients around him were children. Prior to his experience, he says it was easy to tell someone to go to the ETC when they felt sick. However, he realized how hard it was for people to go after staying at one for four days. He felt cared for and encouraged by the staff at the ETC. Mr. Diallo says, “Before it was easy tell someone to go to an Ebola treatment center, but after being in one for just four days I realized how hard it really is. You’re living in a place where you can’t touch anybody or share anything. So you’re far from your usual world. Before Ebola, I had a normal life. I felt safe. Now, I notice people are scared. It’s a new disease and people are scared. Life has changed. You can no longer put your hand in the hand of your friend." #MyEbolaStory © UNICEF/UNI200643/Grile
