One of the bonuses of jet lag when your internal clock is 7 hours ahead is the early mornings. Today I woke up at 5am, refreshed and stoked for the day. I took the long way into the studio, driving through the Boulder open space and watched the sun come up. I got lucky with this #americankestrel watching it hover along the fields hunting and managed to get this photo. For me, birds in flight are among the most difficult things to shoot and every opportunity I get to practice I enjoy. They're lightning quick and unpredictable in flight. I used a 600 f/4 lens to photograph this little guy, hand held in the low light of the morning. I missed a lot of nice photos but am happy to have grabbed a few. All in an effort to keep the photo tools sharp and spend a little time in the crisp winter morning. #bouldersafari @thetweetsuites @audubonsociety
