BE YOUR OWN MOTIVATION! As the Xmas period draws to a close the majority of us (Me included!) will be feeling a little sluggish, looking a little more rounded & probably lacking the motivation to get back in the gym as our minds and bodies are still in Xmas mode. What I've found works for me in getting out of this rut is seeing pictures of myself at my best both mentally & physically. knowing that's what I CAN achieve As It's there in front of me! I also remember how I felt when I looked my best. How much more energy I had, how confident I was and how I was just always in an all around better mood. I was happier! In the past, to motive me I used to look at pics of how other people looked. I stuck images on my fridge and even had them as my screen saver ? I now know that was unrealistic. I spent ages wanting to be petite and look like Kylie Minogue, but the fact is she's 5ft nothing and I'm almost 5ft 10! So unless I starved myself to the stage of becoming ill, it's never going to happen. We are all different & so are our circumstances & environment so as much as I love kylie, her pic came off my fridge and went in my bin! What I can do though is BE THE BEST VERSION OF MYSELF And that's what makes it more rewarding, no one else can do that. No one else can be the best version of YOU either. So stop comparing yourself or making unrealistic goals which will only stress you out & make you feel worse when that goal is not reached. Dig out a picture of yourself when you were truly at your happiest. Even if it wasn't physically where you wanted to be, seeing the image of yourself so happy will subconsciously remind you of that happy feeling & that way getting up to go and train or choosing to eat clean will become easier. If this is the start of your fitness journey & you don't have a before picture then use the power of visualisation. Imagine how you would feel & look being at your best both mentally & physically! Make a list of all the pros such as improved sleep, more confidence, improved Health, more energy to play with your kids ect. You'll be surprised how this works! So, stop the comparisons, be the best YOU can be & enjoy YOUR fitness journey ??????
