Raf Simons' surprise departure from @クリスチャンディオール earlier this year is DAY TWENTY ONE of the Dazed advent. A sad and shocking moment that we definitely didn't see coming. @rafsimonsofficial had held the post since April 2012, and said this in a statement after the announcement was made:
“It is after careful and long consideration that I have decided to leave my position as creative director of Christian Dior’s women’s collection. It is a decision based entirely and equally on my desire to focus on other interests in my life, including my own brand, and the passions that drive me outside my work. Christian Dior is an extraordinary company, and it has been an immense privilege to write a few pages of this magnificent book.” Later, in an interview with @systemmagazine, Simons spoke further about the decision, saying:
“The problem is when you have only one design team and six collections, there is no more thinking time. And I don’t want to do collections where I’m not thinking.”
Just two weeks ago, @クリスチャンディオール announced that the next two collections will be designed by an in-house team. (October 2015)
