About the Shot: One of my favorite runs at @MammothMountain is Climax. This run starts at 11,053 feet at the top of the Sierras and features fun little obstacles to take photos from. This image has a special place in my heart because it was the first day shooting with my #GoPro #HERO4. I ripped open the box like a kid on Christmas and, with no plan, I threw on all my gear and ran to the gondola building with no athletes, no location - just pure excitement to test the new toy. I found one of my friends taking laps from the top and sweet talked him into shooting with me. This shot was literally the only one I got from the day and it made me fall in love with the new #HERO4.
How the Shot was Captured: The first thing I always look for is foreground. I saw this rock from the top so I asked my friends to ski down over to it. We looked at the rock from the top and found a line where he could hop off the rock, do a little shifty and land in a super narrow area. As he sidestepped back up the mountain to get speed, I skied around the bottom of the rock and laid down on the ground for a different perspective. He dropped in, I couldn’t see him, so I listened for his skis – and as soon as I saw his ski tips, I hit the trigger button holding the camera with both hands, no frame no case. As simple as it gets. Shot this using 30/2s Burst-Mode with Pro tune on, Sharpness low, ISO 100 with GoPro color. #GoProSnow #CliffDrop #mammothmountain #PeterMorning
