Belle a Lanner Falcon, wears a hood during a break in the photo session. A hood, which is used in the manning process (acclimatising to humans and the human world) and to keep the raptor in a calm state, both in the early part of its training and throughout its falconry career. Out of all the falconer's aids the hood is the most important piece of equipment. Lanner's are bred in captivity for falconry; hybrids with the peregrine ("perilanners") are also selectively breed.

In the wild, lanner falcon numbers are somewhat declining in Europe, though the species remains relatively common in parts of Africa. @Robert Clark @thephotosociety @ナショナルジオグラフィック
