In the 10 de Agosto #market in #Cuenca, a man plays the accordian amongst the stalls piled high with fruit and vegetables, while his companion carries a decorated picture of the #Virgin Mary who is believed to protect the market. They walked up and down the aisles, asking for small donations from the sellers, who are mostly indigenous Kichwa from the surrounding mountains. Taken yesterday while shopping for "camote" or sweet potatoes for a Thanksgiving dinner. In the market, I forgot about what I had come to buy and spent an hour admiring the colorful bounty and the rich life and culture in this corner of the #Americas.
