My Tuesday morning: found four puppies in a trash can. No joke. Got their mommy, too. The whole family is resting up at the vet now. But... Yea. SOMEONE THREW A LITTER OF PUPPIES IN THE GARBAGE. What is happening!? I'm meditating on humanity and our collective responsibility to do good. Here is the thing: not everyone is awake enough to feel the interconnectedness of this universe. How there is in fact no separation between us. How we have much more in common than we have things diving us. How we are all one.
So many people are still asleep. Knowing you are part of a whole, you don't leave puppies to die in the trash. You don't bomb cities filled with innocent people. You don't purposely hurt other beings. You just don't. Knowing you are part of a whole is knowing that when you hurt another, you hurt yourself. How long is it going to take for humanity to wake up?? How many victims? How many wars?
I don't know how to fix us, but I know this: we need to work our way back to remembering that we are all in this together. All of us. Humans, animals, this entire planet and all the life that spring from it. We are in this together and we either transcend together... Or we perish alone.
These puppies are going to make it. I've named them and held them and loved them and they are going to make it. Humanity? That's up to us.
