This big brother would do anything for his baby sister, trust me- I grew up with four of the best. What I've realized speaking in locker rooms all over the country to young men about the treatment of girls is that things like respect, character and integrity are not inherent qualities they are taught, passed down and modeled for us. Living in a society where the disrespect and degradation of women is so rampant is not simply a reflection of men... it is a reflection of a culture where respect is not properly valued or emphasized. Let's stop pointing at guys and saying they are the problem, let's take responsibility for not properly educating and investing in the character of boys. I'm bored talking about the problem. I'm wildly interested in discussing solutions to a complex issue and it begins with educating little boys AND little girls about self respect and kindness and compassion. As I always say, this isn't a women's issue, this is a human issue and men are not just the problem- they also happen to be the cure. Because this little boy, protecting his baby sister- is THE definition of manhood... maybe it's something that doesn't actually have to be taught, maybe it simply has to be remembered. #ProtectHer #humanissue #gratefulforbadassmen
