Martin: “How long have you been living on the street?”
Jose: “Since I was about thirteen or fourteen years old. I’ll be fifty March tenth.”
Martin: “You’ve been living on the streets for thirty-eight years?”
Jose: “Yeah, never owned an apartment, house, nothing but a tent and I didn’t even own that.”
Martin: “Where are you from?”
Jose: “Chicago, Illinois.” Martin: “Well, it’s much nicer down here.”
Jose: “Tell me about it.”
Martin: “Chicago, that’s a rough place to live on the street.”
Jose: “They found ‘em in the winter time frozen to death with their hands in the prayer position. So yeah, I’d rather not do that.”
Martin: “How do you come by money?”
Jose: “I sell well, I sell a little speed here and prostitute every now and again. There was a time where I’d have been ashamed to say that but I’m not now.”
Martin: “Who are your customers?”
Jose: "Mostly older gentlemen.”
Martin: “And they just pull up in the car?”
Jose: "Well that’s the way it started but they have the cell phone thing now. It’s just we stay in contact that way or through Facebook.”
Martin: “Do you prefer men yourself or women?”
