Even though it looks like this horse is fenced in, this is in fact a wild Mustang horse in Wyoming. Between the growing need to maintain the number of wild horses and the dwindling grazing available in the wild, how to care for and protect Wyoming's beautiful wild horses is a real issue. The BLM (Bureau of Land Management) is ultimately responsible for the solution to this issue, and has turned to private land owners for help. In exchange for a fee (in essence, the BLM is paying rent), these private ranches agree to provide a sanctuary for the wild horses to graze and roam free on their private land. Some fences are erected to keep them away from areas where they might get into trouble, but these are wild and free horses living a semi protected and very comfortable existence. I had the opportunity to do a photoshoot on this ranch with amazing access to some of the most beautiful Mustangs you could ever set eyes on. // photo by @jonathan_irish
