Rant alert:
I really dislike when people think that to become artists they have to quit their day jobs. And the only way to be a true artist is to only do the work you love. I'm sorry. But this is complete bullshit. If you are an artist nothing should define you. Not your job description not your gender not your paycheck. You create because you can't help it. It haunts your days and mid mornings and the depths of the night. I've worked very hard for 16 years as an actress , which can be a very fulfilling creative job but also can be just as boring and unfulfilling as any job. I never let that define who I was or the art I wanted to create. No matter how much money I was making if I was hungry to create, I created. To do what you love you have to make lot of sacrifices. And to create often requires money and a certain amount of responsibly to achieve greatness. You don't have to quit your day job to fulfill your dreams as an artist, that's just ridiculous. Just look at Robert Frost who worked at a factory during his career. Philips Glass, Jeff Koons, Kurt Vonnegut and so many others worked normal every day jobs while they created some of their masterpieces. Please don't think just because you are in dead end job you will never fulfill your dreams. Or just because you don't get paid to do what you love right now doesn't mean that won't change in the future.
