It's always good to get humbled in the mountains. This morning was just such an occasion. 530 AM we set out to hike the knife edge ridge of the Hardergrat trail, something that has been on my bucket list for months. We were met with 6in of snow, ice and mud. We threw caution to the wind and froze for about 4 hours on the trail until we forced ourselves to come down. The visibility was ranging between 5-10ft through the fog at best and needless to say we were ill prepared for gale winds and 20F conditions.

We slid, hiked and fell back down the mountain thoroughly defeated with enough mud on our butts to look like the trail might have kicked the crap out of us. But there was nothing but smiles because I will never forget that hike. And the view at sunrise wasn't that bad either. *ps - if you follow me on snapchat you can see the carnage.
