Eddie Johnson got the U.S. started, and then it was long-time Mexico nemesis Landon Donovan who put the nail in the coffin. Ironically, Clint Dempsey had a chance to put the U.S. up 3-0 in stoppage time, only to see his penalty kick effort skid wide. While the U.S. captain was certainly disappointed in the miss, U.S. soccer fans were left with a wry smile on their face as a chorus of “Dos a Cero” chants rang through the grounds of Crew Stadium. The U.S. players gathered in front of a screen to watch the other matches, and when Honduras and Panama tied some 40 minutes after the final whistle in Columbus, the team emerged from the locker room for a curtain call as they had once again claimed a spot in the World Cup on the back of a win against Mexico. #DosACero #USAvMEX
