Russian boys preparing for a talent competition at Mistral 2, a summer camp in Sveti Vlas, #Bulgaria. The photographer George Georgiou spent the summer in a Bulgarian village called Mandritsa this summer for #NYTMag. Along the way, he visited a number of cities by the Black Sea. “This is one of the poorest regions in Europe, but there is an emerging middle class, and in summer you get people from all over Eastern Europe and Russia coming in for a budget holiday,” he writes. “I’ve mostly seen the #BlackSea out of season, when the feeling is more melancholic, but summer changes everything.’’ This photo appears in #NYTMag’s Voyages issue.
