Notebooks and pen(cils) are the instruments of my heart. It doesn't matter if I'm amazing at what I do so much as it's that I'm passionate about it with every yawp of my being. I'd much rather be passionate about something with a ton of room to grow than to master something my heart is just not in. I love the journey and the exploration of lines. The feel and texture of the paper. The smell and grit of the graphite. The fluidity and smoothness of ink. All of it, every part, tool and instrument is connected in the process for me and brings me into new parts of my heart that had yet to be chartered. It is my happiest place to dream and play and work and grow. And though a new season is right around the corner, this piece is my official submission for the #SummerOfSketching Giveaway by @efdot, to which the prizes are among what I consider the greatest of treasures: pencils from my well-known favourite @cwpencilenterprise and the highly coveted Confidant notebook (the paper is amazing and it lays flat) from @baronfig among other wondrous goodies. Here's to a big hearty thank you to the summer almost behind, the autumn already peeking, the glee of possible new treasures from this ridiculously awesome giveaway and the treasure of just being able to create in and of itself.
