“Comfort be the thing that’ll make a king fall.” In the Bible, that king was David, a great warrior who opted to stay home and let others fight in one of his battles. Though rapper Andy Mineo’s (@andymineo) new album “Uncomfortable” (@uncomfortable_album) isn’t quite the life-or-death scenario of biblical times, his tale has a similar message: Comfort leads to complacency, which leads to downfall. Take the cover of the record, which features the emcee’s faced pressed up against a piece of glass.
“I started realizing comfort can rob you of your ambition and deep hunger,” he says. “I was like, I can either dismiss it with bravado and act like it’s not there, or embrace it and see what that can result in. And it’s created this journey on this album for me to invite people into discomfort and say if we embrace it, maybe there is something we can get from it.”
