In July 1952, @ニューヨーク・タイムズ reported, this Canadian family of five hitchhiked to New York on just $32. From Toronto to Times Square, Frank Peter and his family rode in 23 different vehicles. The only money they spent went toward lodging for three nights, a new pair of shorts for Frank, Jr., and hot dogs with soda at Coney Island. Frank Sr., a lithographer, told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ that nearly everyone who heard about the trip thought he had “bats in the belfry.” Would he do it again? “Heck no!” Frank said. “Just because it worked once doesn’t mean it will work again.” This #nytweekender, we’re celebrating #LaborDay weekend with one last trip to the beach.
