This stunt took place less than a month after his legendary #tightrope walk between the twin towers of the World Trade Center, which astonished New Yorkers. The stunt shown here — captured by @ニューヨーク・タイムズ staff photographer Joyce Dopkeen — was faulted for being brief relative to the wait. “My back is killing me,” one onlooker told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. “We’ve done dumber things and will do them again,” said another. Yet much of audience of 30,000 was enthusiastic, perching on cars, on steps and on top of a billboard on the road above the gorge, @ニューヨーク・タイムズ reported.
