#GoPro Featured Photographer - @shonbollock About the Shot - Champs-Elysées Formation: My journey with GoPro started over eight years ago after meeting Nick and Justin at Outdoor Retailer in 2007. I was an aspiring whitewater kayaker introduced to a small camera company right after high school that would forever change my life. GoPro sponsored me at age 19 and stood by my side as my kayaking career progressed all the way through graduating from film school at UC Santa Cruz in 2014. My final athlete contract with GoPro ended in 2015 and I joined the media team as a Production Artist. In July I was given the opportunity to film the 102nd Tour de France while traveling over 10,0000km around Europe, covering all 21 stages of the event. On the last stage in Paris I was filming all day on top of the Arc de Triumph, most of which was in the pouring rain, only accompanied by security. When the peloton was nearing the final lap around the Arc, the rain stopped for a few minutes and French military jets flew in formation down the Champs-Elysées. At this moment I realized our team took an event that has been around for over one hundred years and gave our viewers a new insight into the peloton. GoPro is not just a product but a portal into seeing life through a different lens and I am eternally grateful for being a small part of that success. How the Shot was Captured: We prepped our kits the night before the final stage knowing it was going to be a hectic day wrapping up the @letourdefrance I would like to say I framed this shot with an LCD BacPac but the truth is I had no idea when the jets were coming. So in reality I heard loud noises, grabbed a JAWS clamp with a Gooseneck extension, clamped my Hero4 Black onto the guard railing on top of the Arc while sticking to my go to photo settings, TimeLapse Mode at a .5sec interval with ProTune On, ISO 400, auto white balance, and sharpening on Low. PRO TIP: .5sec interval captures a TON of photos but it is a great setting to guarantee you get the shot.
