Photo by Jeff Gusky @hiddenwwi | This was a French WWI underground hospital and theater. The stage was behind me.
The light pouring through the ceiling is where a massive bomb struck and collapsed the roof of this underground hospital.

This was a place of hope for soldiers. Around the corner is a beautiful chapel carved out of the rock walls. And above the main entrance to the hospital is a mural chiseled in stone of a wounded French soldier in a wheel chair, crutches nearby, with his wife and child running towards him.
