? @johnkernickphotography About to set off for a 5 day canoe trip in the Adirondacks. The 6 million acre Adirondack Park in NY state is the largest designated park in the contiguous United States and the largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi. Adirondack Park is larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite, Glacier, Grand Canyon and the Great Smoky Mountain National Parks combined. It contains 85 percent of the Northeast's wilderness and has 46 peaks over 4000 feet (Vermont has eight). In 5 days canoeing and camping we saw 2 Black Bear, Beaver, Bald Eagles, Osprey and Loons to name a few and all within a 5 hour drive from New York City. #Adirondacks #whereloonslive #johnkernickphotography
