Photograph by George Steinmetz @geosteinmetz / @thephotosociety Some of the thirty camels we hired for my @ナショナルジオグラフィック expedition stroll past the small Buddhist monastery beside Badain Jaran lake, lost in the megadunes of China’s Gobi Desert. The dunes in this sand sea are the largest in the world, rising over 350meters, and punctuated by scattering of small salty lakes. We were the among the first foreigners into this lost world of Inner Mongolia. From the book Desert Air, a 15 year exploration of all the world’s extreme deserts.
