Ashwini Chawla, 19, and Sanam Wadhwani, 21, took a breather during a shopping trip in Garden City, New York. The couple, who were photographed by @damonwinter, met as counselors at a religious camp for children of Sindhi descent. Three weeks later, camp was over, but their #summerlove only deepened. Because Sanam’s father was gravely ill with cancer, they accelerated one dating ritual: Ashwini met her new boyfriend’s father. “He said, ‘Promise me you’ll always take care of my son,’” recalled Ashwini. Two years later, they still believe they’re soul mates. “She’s been with me through the worst time,” Sanam told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. “So hopefully we’ll be together for a very long time, hopefully forever.” He added: “I’m hoping for the next life, too, but we’ll see!”
