The #carousel building at the south end of the boardwalk in Asbury Park, #NewJersey. #AsburyPark was a booming seaside resort in the late 1800s, with about 200 hotels and a carnival-like atmosphere on the boardwalk. But the city’s fortunes began a slow decline in the late 1960s — and only grew worse in 1970 after riots fueled by racial tensions broke out. Now, after decades of false starts, Asbury is finally showing signs of revival. This #nytweekender, we’re sharing a black-and-white series on the seaside town, shot by by @ニューヨーク・タイムズ photographer Tony Cenicola.
