Today, after more than 50 years, the U.S. Embassy in #Cuba opened its doors in the country’s capital. The reopening of the embassy, on the #Malecn waterfront in #Havana, is the most concrete symbol of the thaw President Obama set in motion last year when ordered the full restoration of diplomatic ties between the countries. The official celebration will come later, when Secretary of State John Kerry visits to raise the #USflag. By 6 a.m., a line had already formed along the side of the Embassy. Many of those waiting outside said they have relatives in America they plan to visit or live with. Photo by @meridithkohut.
